2019 Winter Resident Research Competition

Michigan Pathology Residents and Fellows are invited to submit Abstracts for the Michigan Society of Pathologists 15th Annual Resident Research Competition.  The event will take place at this year’s winter conference on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, MI.   

 Please note:  Upon receipt of your submission, the first author will receive complimentary registration to the MSP winter conference.

 

 Resident Research Competition Guidelines 

1.     Eligibility

Ø  The competition is open to all Michigan pathology Residents and Fellows in approved Michigan training programs.

2.     Submission Requirements

Ø  Using the Abstract Entry Form

Ø  It is suggested that the abstract be typed in Helvetica or Arial font, 10 point, justified.   

Ø  Abstract is limited to 32 lines in this font and size. 

Ø  Abstract should not exceed the size as it appears in the master Abstract Entry Form. 

Ø  Abstract should be structured with the categories defined below.

Ø  Abstracts must be emailed in PDF format to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  

Those received by fax, routine mail, or email will not be considered.

Ø  Abstracts must be submitted on ONE PAGE.

Multiple page submissions will be returned for correction. 

3.     Categories

Ø  Title:  all in CAPS – bold font

Ø  Authors and Institution(s):  first author must be resident/fellow in good standing

Ø  Background:

Ø  Design:

Ø  Results: 

Ø  Conclusions: 

4.     Competition Deadline

Ø  All PDF’s must be received via email by 3:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2019 

5.     Poster Display Guidelines

Ø  Poster Size: No Larger than 4' x 3'

Ø  Poster must be laminated for wall display during the conference.  

6.     Judges Evaluations

Ø  All abstracts will be evaluated by a panel of judges (non-affiliated pathologist).

Ø  The panel will select the best THREE entries for podium presentation. 

Ø  Monetary prizes will be awarded to the three.

Ø  All decisions of the panel of judges is final and irrevocable.

Authors (of the 3 best submissions) will be notified by November 15, 2019 and prepared to present during the MSP Winter Conference on December 7, 2019.  Presentations will be limited to 8 minutes and 2 minutes for questions.
